Hope for the Next Generation
“Hope for the Next Generation” by Bryce Bengtson.
This blog is authored by a member of the next generation, Dr. Bengtson’s son, Bryce.
“Hope for the Next Generation” is Bryce’s take on life as a 21st-century adolescent.
He speaks from an identity as a child of the One True King, and offers Biblical insight for the challenges he faces, and the challenges of his peers.
Happy birthday! I walked into the room full of surprise. All of my friends were there in party hats. I saw a large cake in the center of the room. I walked towards it and someone cut me a piece. Everyone was wishing me a happy birthday. I saw a pile of gifts sitting on a fold out table. I opened one to find a Bible. I put it in my pocket, it would be useful later. [more]
We were driving down the road when we saw a tanker truck heading down I-70. On the side, we saw the warning of the contents being flammable. It was most likely carrying gasoline to a gas station somewhere. I thought about it for a little while. If the gas was to...
Imagine with me for a moment that you are on a beach looking for seashells, when your dad calls you out to him in the water. It looks too deep for you but you go out towards your dad. All of a sudden a current pulls you and you lose your balance and go under. You hear your dad shouting for you but you don’t know which way is up or down. You feel like you are almost out of air when your dad pulls you out of the water. You want to get out but your dad holds you back. “The current tried to sweep you away, but you will be safe here with me.” [more]
In the Dunk Tank of God’s Love, you are cleaned inside and out. His love is powerful to cleanse you wherever you are, whatever you are doing. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 ESV #HopeForTheNextGeneration
In today’s post, Bryce Bengtson shares encouragement to trust in God. The pain that you’ve been feeling, can’t compare to the joy that’s coming. No matter what is going on, God is waiting on the other side to give you His joy.
Imagine with me for a moment that you are camping with all your gear. You have already set up your tent when you realize the sun is going down and you haven’t much time to get a fire started. You find some flint at the last second. You scratch it against a rock and a spark ignites.
God is your flint. He sparks your personal flame. He wants you to show your flame to everyone and spread it to others. There always needs to be at least one flame to light others. Jesus was that one. He spread his flame to his disciples and everyone he met. [more]
Imagine with me for a moment that you travel in the car on a road trip. A few miles from home, a sputtering noise begins to sounds. Suddenly the car breaks down. You get out of the car but there is nothing you can do. You have to call a mechanic. When he shows up, he assesses the problem then cuts some wires and puts new ones in. After he finishes, you start the car and it works. You are now ready to go on your road trip. [more]
Imagine with me for a moment that you are at your favorite music artist’s concert. The music is blasting and people are singing. You are wearing earplugs but you can still hear loud and clear. You are trying to gather your thoughts but the noise is bouncing them around. Someone is trying to speak to you but you can’t hear them. You are enjoying the music but you feel like you are missing something… [more]
Imagine with me for a moment that you are on a boat out on the lake. It is windy and there are a lot of white caps. You want to go tubing but it is too choppy to stay on the tube for more than one minute. You ask your dad to try to take to a less choppy ride on the lake. You look around for a while before finding a spot that is calm enough. It is time to start tubing, and have some fun! [more]
In today’s post, Bryce shares a story about a stone lost while on vacation. God is like the lost gem. He wants you to search and find Him. Will you? Imagine with me for a moment that you are visiting a lava tube excursion on vacation. You have lights on your hat so you can see easily. Out of the corner of your eye you spot something shiny. [more]
