Scripture tells us God is the great “I Am.”
When I read this, for some reason I get a mental picture of the Wizard of Oz when he was exposed behind the curtain. The wizard felt threatened to be found out for not being one who had all the answers, but rather, an ordinary man as he proclaimed, “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!”
God, on the other hand, knows everything. He is the alpha and the omega…the beginning and the end. Because He created everything, He knows everything.
There is power in the name, I Am. He is everything we need at all times.
I am…the Creator.
I am…your Father.
I am…your provider.
I am…your healer.
I am…your defender.
I am…your comforter.
I am…your strong tower.
I am…your hiding place.
I am…your answer.
I am…everything you need.
No one and nothing else can ever be all things to all people, but the great I Am.
Yet we trust others, and we put our trust in things that are bound to disappoint. We put our trust in people and things that are by their very nature imperfect. Yet God is perfection, and He above all has earned our trust.
Will you trust Him to be whatever it is you need today?
