Trust He Is

Trust He Is

Scripture tells us God is the great “I Am.”
When I read this, for some reason I get a mental picture of the Wizard of Oz when he was exposed behind the curtain. The wizard felt threatened to be found out for not being one who had all the answers, but rather, an ordinary man as he proclaimed, “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!”
God, on the other hand, knows everything. In two small words, He proved His trustworthiness for whatever your situation.

“Lord, we aren’t going to have a day like this today, are we?”
I sensed His swift answer in my spirit, “I don’t know. Are we? It’s your choice…”
“I suppose it is.” The tears continued to roll. It wasn’t about the dog or the coffee or the garage door…it was about the major life stressors those minor incidents represented. “I suspect what you’re really saying is that you want me to trust you, right?”
I pictured a Heavenly nod and a Fatherly smile, although I was not yet smiling, for tears were still flowing through my exhaustion and frustration.

Trusting in the Dark

Trusting in the Dark

That’s what it was like this morning as I woke up aware it was morning but unable to see my surroundings. As I padded my way to the bathroom, I absentmindedly flipped the switch then flipped it again, and again. Then the one next to it, and the one next to that. Nothing. The power was out. I soon found out that trusting God is a bit like getting ready in the dark.
