- The Bible has a lot to say about our finances. When we need financial wisdom, we need to go to His word.
- When there is more month than money, we have to trust God to be our provider.
- Bankruptcy is a real-life example of what Christ has done for us: debt cancellation.
Scripture References:
- 2 Corinthians 1:9 “But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God.”
- Romans 5:3-5 “We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. Oh wow, what an amazing message! We also went through a bankruptcy many years ago and the Lord walked us through it with divine connections with lawyers and other financial help. We totally believed we were doing and spending what He desired and we laid it all before Him and He directed our steps. There was a reason and a purpose that we walked through that difficult time. We had some friends who owned a restaurant who let us eat breakfast and supper at their place for several months; others bought us groceries; others helped us with gas but we did not go much. So many people encouraged us and shared provision with us. We were so very much loved. Shonda, your testimony was heartbreaking yet so full of hope and seeing the hand of the Lord care for you. Yes, He loves you and showed you in so many ways. Thank you and Dr. Michelle for both sharing testimony and your hearts with us.
I love how Shonda talked about learning how to get through it with her marriage intact. When you think about financial struggles, you don’t always think about the relationships that suffer because of it. Wonderful encouragement here, Michelle.
