“This is your captain speaking. Prepare for lift off.”
I leaned back and looked out the window at the airport. I felt the cabin slant and started to gain air pressure little by little. We climbed higher in the sky and I could see the city from up there. I laid back and closed my eyes, drifting off to sleep.
When we got off the ground we could feel a little more pressure on us. It can be like when you finally get your own apartment for the first time or get engaged. It can be like lifting off to get somewhere but with it comes pressure. If we are not willing to pop our ears, it can cause pain and it can be hard to listen to God. If we rely on God, He can be the pilot of our flight and get us to where we need to go.
When we lift off it can be hard to know what’s going on. We may feel slightly disoriented and for some of us, nauseous. It can be hard to trust that you will be able to keep on track and not crash into the ground below. Though we will surely get off course, we will always be able to communicate with our control tower, whether it be a friend, a church, or a family member. As long as we can keep our eyes on God we can pilot the way to Him regardless of the mountains, storms, and hurricanes standing in our way.
Isaiah 40:31—“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” – If we can trust that God will hold us up, we can walk in faith and not stumble or fall but fly like an eagle.
