In my recent camp in the book of Jonah, God has given me fresh revelation. After God rescued Jonah from the belly of the fish, God gave Jonah a second chance. He again gave Jonah orders to go to Nineveh to proclaim God’s disappointment. This time Jonah came to his senses and obeyed his marching orders to the letter. At this point, it took Jonah three days to walk across the city.
Listening to Jonah’s warning, the Ninevite people trusted God, fasted, and dressed in burlap to show their repentance. Even the King of Nineveh repented, dressed in sack cloth to show his submission to God, and urged the people to call upon God.
God relented, choosing not to destroy them as He had intended. Here we have another example of God’s participation in our lives AFTER we come to see the error of our ways.
Has God ever given you a second chance? What does that feel like?
