Finding Healing and Hope through a Simple Letter to Mom
In my recent Dear Mom post, I shared how my son challenged me to write a letter to my now deceased mother, and to God, sharing the thoughts, sentiments, and feelings I would share if she were still here for Mother’s Day. Through the simple letter I wrote to my mom, I found healing and hope through the transformative power of God’s love.
Dear Mom… Finding Comfort on Mother’s Day
Holidays are not always smiles and Hallmark cards. Are you one of the countless women whose heart is aching this Mother’s Day? God wants to bring comfort and healing to the brokenhearted.
A Recovering Perfectionist
I’m a recovering perfectionist. I have to say “recovering” because I’m not sure I can let go of that tendency in any way other than perfectly. Even as I try to disentangle myself from those inbred perfectionistic ways, I find myself wondering if I am doing it good enough? Am I good enough? Perfectionism is always rooted in something deeper. Read along to find out more.
Down But Not Out
Have you ever felt beaten down? Has it ever seemed like everything was just against you? Me too. I’ve had those days where it just seemed that it was the world against me. What do you do in those situations? You may feel down, but you’re not out.
Proof You Are Good Enough
Do you ever give in to the fallacies of the lies that say you aren’t good enough? I do. I wish I didn’t, and I think I’m making progress, and then I’ve fallen down a slippery slope. When we listen to the lies that whisper we aren’t good enough, we’ve been duped. The truth is, there is proof that we are good enough.
The Journey From Depression Into Joy
When someone is depressed, they have a choice to make: to either let depression define them or to desire joy bad enough to seek after it with obedience and sacrifice. Jesus offered us the same joy he had; the fullest possible joy. This journey from depression into joy can be very hard, but if we want joy bad enough, we will seek after it. Read more for how to shift your mindset to lead a joy-filled life.
The Joy of the Lord is My Strength
Depression can be perpetuated by focusing on ourselves and our own pain, but when we focus instead on others and their needs, our own pain is lessened. It makes us feel good and gives us a fresh perspective of the verse in Nehemiah 8:10 that says, “the joy of the Lord is my strength.” Read more for how to shift your focus when you’re feeling down or in despair.
This Thing Called Depression: Signs and Symptoms
Are you struggling with depression? God already knows what you’re struggling with and He wants to heal you and give you hope. For myself, I was the doctor who treated patients for over 20 years when I suffered through the dark night of my soul. I thought I was supposed to be able to prevent that from happening to me, and to have all the answers. Experience is a very valuable teacher. Now that I’ve personally experienced it, I understand what depression is, how it presents, what it feels like, and how to treat it much better. In this post, I share the most common signs and symptoms of depression, along with resources that offer help, hope and healing.
Is It Grief Or Depression?
