In a world where terrorism is on the rise, economies are less stable, divorce is rampant, and more diseases are being discovered but fewer are being cured, everyone needs hope. We long to know that everything will be okay. We desire to know more than anything that WE will be okay.
The enemy uses such crises as an opportunity to get a foothold of fear in our lives and carry with him worry and anxiety, doubt, despair, and depression. He infiltrates our thoughts without us even being aware of his influence. Through a simple “What if…” he can cause us to take our eyes off God and begin to fret over problems that aren’t even based in reality. Once that happens, we are putty in his hands, ready to listen and believe any one of a myriad of lies he whispers to our mind and to our heart.
So the key to remember is that such emotional distress does not come from God—God gave us the tools for victory. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).
When I wrote “Hope Prevails,” I first thought that I was writing it for the depressed individual because I was that individual. I was the professional, the mother, the wife, the friend, who had gone through depression.
And, in part, I was telling my story and I was trying to help a person like me, the person who needed to know they weren’t alone, that there was someone else out there who understood. And, it’s true, that is what the story tells and I offer hope in the pages of “Hope Prevails.”
But what I have since found is that that’s not the only audience that this book is intended for. Because in the pages of “Hope Prevails,” we really unpack the lies that the enemy tells all of us. The lies that say you’re not worthy, that you’re joy immune, that everybody else is more important, that God loves everybody else more than you, and lies like that.
And then we combat the lies of the enemy to find out just exactly what does God say (sound mind) and how much He loves each one of us.
This book is for each and every one of us. So will you hold on to my hand and walk through the pages of “Hope Prevails” with me because what I have found is that because of Him, Hope Prevails.
Not just for me, not just for the depressed individual, but for each and every one of us.
Because of Him,

Visiting from purposeful faith linkup today! Thank you for writing a book to address the lies we believe from Satan! How powerful!
Hi, Michelle! Thanks again for sharing what your book is about and how you came about writing it. Whether it’s in a book, a blog, or any social media, we often don’t know who we may be writing to, but God knows and uses us to touch other’s lives through our experiences and the wisdom and knowledge He gives us. Unfortunately, I could not pull up the book online to review…I tried and tried, but it just wouldn’t let me open it. I have pre-ordered the book and look forward to reading it first thing when it comes out. I had experienced postpartum depression after the birth of my son. Then my son experienced depression throughout his teen years. It’s something that many of us experience and can relate to. Blessings, sister!
Amen, HOPE PREVAILS is for all of us. I am not in depression and I was encouraged; I was taught truths I should have known after being a Christian 50+ years; but I didn’t realize the truths were all for me. It was head knowledge but not heart knowledge until I read Hope Prevails and I did the Hope Prevails Bible Study that kept me focused upon the principles, truths, and promises in God’s Word. Thank you for writing Hope Prevails and telling your story. All of us need HOPE because all of us NEED Jesus!!! I love and appreciate you so much Dr. Michelle. Looking so forward to your new book!!!
