“It’s a little like being blind….it’s hard to relate and understand what it’s like if you haven’t ever experienced it,” relayed the wife of one of my male patients who suffered from depression.
So many friends and family members relay the same sentiment: they want to help but it’s hard for them to understand what it’s like to suffer from depression since they themselves have never suffered. And yet, what an individual suffering from depression needs to know is that they aren’t alone and someone does care.
“Hope Prevails: Insights From a Doctor’s Personal Journey Through Depression” isn’t just written for the individual suffering from depression. It’s written also for the friend or family member who cares and wants to be an educated supportive loved one. Yet, what we’re hearing is that in reading the book to help depressed loved ones, many are finding that the stories, tips, and suggested tools are actually helpful to them as well.
Here is one reader’s takeaway after reading “Hope Prevails.”
Hi there. My name is Patti Krank and I’m here to tell you about a brand new book I’m reading called, “Hope Prevails,” by my dear friend Dr. Michelle Bengtson.
When Dr. Michelle first told me about her book, almost a year ago, and then when she asked me to be on her launch team, I was ecstatic! You see my husband and I have a heart for the brokenhearted. We’ve been there ourselves and God has delivered us in so many areas. So, I thought this would be a great book for us as a resource in our ministry.
Well, time passed, and even before the book became available for us to download and review, life hit hard here in the Krank household. Many, many things have happened in our lives over these few months and I won’t go into them but they range from family members in depression or illness, etc. I have not been in a place of so much spiritual attack in years.
So while this book is reviewed by many as a book to be used for those in depression, or a book for those who know people in depression, it became more of a personal testimony in my own life as it helped me to keep from falling into a pit of despair as the enemy attacked us and our family.
Dr. Michelle’s book offers great ideas for coming out of depression or even keeping us from going into depression. She has scripture. She has music. She has spiritual principles in this book and I believe it’s going to touch many, many lives. And, it will be a great resource for those who help those who are hurting.
So, while the book is not out yet, it will be released on August 16th, you can pre-order on Amazon or on DrMichelleBengtson.com. I encourage you to get this book. It is powerful and it is going to change lives.
Thank you for allowing me to speak.
