cMy brother bumped into the wall putting pressure on the wall and at the same time increasing the size of the crack. I knew that if it got any higher the bookshelf would be useless. Any weight put on it would break it. Everything else was perfect, but the crack could undo everything. We had to start over.

Sometimes we build something up so much we don’t see the smallest thing that could unravel what we had built. Sometimes we do and try to put glue in the crack to keep it from breaking us further. The problem is that we can’t fix the problem! Only God can. When we are breaking down and know we are helpless, God is able to intervene for us and show love to us and show us how to fix the problem.

The only way to fix the problem on our own is to break ourselves down entirely. But if you are unwilling to allow God to fix the problem, you are also unwilling to break yourself down making the only solution accepting God to help. With God, we never have to go back to a weak state where we are broken down with no help. He allows us to mold back together to get rid of problems we might have.

“Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something on the wheel. But the vessel that he was making of clay was spoiled in the hand of the potter; so he remade it into another vessel, as it pleased the potter to make.” Jeremiah 18:3-4 — God will not allow us to become broken but we must bring it to his attention before he can be allowed to fix it.
