“I’m so glad you’re home!!!” I screech into my brother’s ear as I hug him.
“Love you too,” he says through a chuckle.
I step back smiling. I can’t help it. He’s been gone at college for a year now and I haven’t seen him since he walked into the terminal to go off to the campus.
My mom and dad hug him and exchange “I love you’s” with each other while we’re walking away to pick up his bags. We’ve all missed him.
God loves you no matter when you leave or come back to him. If you go away for sixty years or six weeks he loves you all the same. He can’t wait to see you and tell you how much he loves you. God is so patient. He will always love you and help you no matter what is going on in your life. He can’t wait for you to run up to him and hug him.
No matter what you do, God still shines His love generously on us. He is not stingy with his love. He doesn’t say “oh no he stole that cookie from the break room” (you know you did it at one point) but rather gives us love no matter what.
Without God’s love, we can become calloused and self-seeking. With it, we become loving, caring, and willing to help those in need. God pours out his love on us just waiting for us to run up to him and hug him and say we love him back. No matter what you do, God still loves you, has loved you, and will continue to love you until the end of eternity.
Romans 12:9 – “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” — Do not love falsely but rather cling to God’s love to love wholeheartedly.
