Have you ever wanted to run away? Or, hide yourself from your friends and even from God? Me too. But what I learned is that is the wrong question. The better question is to ask: Who are you running to? Even Hagar in the Bible tried to run away into the wilderness but she wasn’t able to run away from God. He met her right where she was.
At some point in time, we all face trials. They can come from painful relationships, health issues, legal system woes or even jobs that leave us exhausted. What do you do when the trials come? When we face a trial, we have to choose how we will respond.
When the load is too big to handle, do you try to carry it anyway, until you breakdown under the weight of it? You don’t have to carry that load and be the strong one for yourself or for others. Do you ever struggle to trust God? That’s where I was; wanting to more fully trust but lacking. Sometimes God has to get our attention different ways before we’ll listen. He got my attention on a 3 day beach trip. It was a confirmation to trust God. That was the start of my journey to better understand how to lean on Him and trust him more deeply.
What do we do when life doesn’t go as planned? Job loss, bankruptcy, a report from the doctor that wasn’t what we wanted, a friend’s betrayal. When difficult times come, where do we put our trust?
