These days, more than ever, we’re under pressure to pretend that life is easy and that we’ve got it all figured out. We may look good on the outside, but what about the inside? What if the answer is walking in wholeness? Kerrie Oles shares how we can surrender to God and see our life begin to change by walking in His wholeness daily.
I recently had the opportunity to speak with Kerrie on an episode of Your Hope Filled Perspective Podcast. We talked about how to live the best version of your true self—the you God created you to be. If you missed that episode, you can listen here [Hope for Living the Best Version of Your True Self – Episode 118]. And now, she shares what she’s learned along her journey to walking in wholeness.

Walking in Wholeness
by Kerrie Oles
Let’s face it. If I were to ask you how you’re doing, you would immediately say the standard answer, “I’m fine.” The truth is now more than ever we live in a world where we experience unprecedented pressure to pretend that life is easy. That we’ve got everything figured out and everything under control, but we all know the truth. Life is complicated. Some of us are living in complicated marriages, have wayward children’s issues, experience financial issues and even fear.
So, for someone to introduce the idea of all of us walking in wholeness sounds quite weird, but what if it’s not? The normal lives we’re all leading often cover up or mask what is really happening on the inside. In Jesus’s day the religious leaders were the best-looking people of all. Their clothes were clean, and they prayed super-righteous sounding prayers. But Jesus called them all whitewashed tombs (Matt 23:27). I can see why they hated him. Jesus knew them inside and out. He knew that they did not have a transformed heart, and the warnings He gave them are for us as well.
We need to stop pretending we have it all together.
Instead, we need to lean into walking in His wholeness daily. You and I may look good on the outside, but if we are full of rotting stuff, how do we deal with it? We must go all in. We cannot make a part-time commitment and expect a full-time outcome.
So, what areas of your life are you allowing Jesus into but only partially?
Surrender today to His will, His word, and His way, and when you do this you will see your life start to change. Walking in wholeness means just that–it’s not a Sprint or a 100-yard dash, it’s a marathon we are running every day, and we have to pick up our swords and follow Him. Walking in wholeness is not weird, it’s really the only way. Keep going my friend. You’re in your race, keep running.

When I am hit with fear,I start praising Jesus and soon everything is good. God abides in the praises of his people.
What I gleaned from this message is that if we walk in God’s wholeness every moment then it doesn’t matter what comes, that perspective, the wholeness of God, is how we will navigate the trials and issues of life. No more confusion; no more doubt, fear, anxiety, stress or worry but lasting daily moment by moment peace. it is what you, Michelle, have shared in your books and your posts and Kerrie comes along to affirm and share her testimony that it works. thank you both for sharing with us!!! I shared this blog and the podcast on FB.
I am so guilty of only giving God partial access to my stuff. Thanks for this.
Wholeness keeps you feeling safe, strong and capable.
I like the fact that walking in wholeness involves being involved with Jesus and letting Him work in me while I daily walk in His ways. Recently I started walking about 20 minutes a day in order to help my arthritic knee. It not only helps, but my mind seems clearer. I find joy in the scenery and who I see in the neighborhood. God’s ways are so healthy and can invigorate my body, soul and spirit. I don’t want to be a couch potato, but a person who is active and has a goal to live for Christ each day. Thank you for such good words.
I am learning that I cannot be whole and free if I keep attaching my emotions to something false. Truth has to be the engine that runs my “train” of thoughts, not my feelings.
Only God can be what I need in the times I don’t know what to do. Calling out. Leaning in. Holding tight. Resting safely.
